I'm heading out of town for New Years to hang with Biana in Boston. Sunny offered to feed, walk, and love my dog (Alex) while I'm out. I owe her big time. I told her half jokingly that I would blog directions for preparing Alex's food.

My secret techniques for preparing a great dog food bowl are a secret no more. My tell all video is embedded below.

Does anyone have details about the 2009 Idiotarod in NYC? Is it even happening? I had a lot of fun attempting to race last year! (No... wait... here's a better picture of me...)

UPDATE: A date has been announced here. Woot.

Briefly: The Idiotarod is the idiot-city-kids spin on the classic Iditarod dog sled race. Instead of a sled, there's a shopping cart and instead of dogs, there are idiot humans.

Carts of Brooklyn.com hasn't been updated since last year.

It took Lee, Greg, Aaron and I all of a week to build and launch The Shorty Awards. There is no shortage of awesomeness in my personal interweb tubes these days.

What are The Shorty Awards? Firstly, they are an excuse for me to rent a tuxedo. Secondly, they are way to honor the best content creators on Twitter.

Coo coo ca thump. I think this animation is awesome. It was nominated for an Academy Award for best animated short film. The audio was recorded in 1969 by a 14 year old boy who snuck into John Lennon's hotel room. More info on the film here.

Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation.

I borrowed peanut butter and fluff from Melissa and a strip of bacon from Bailey. Emerald made a sneak-attack correction when I accidentally said "fluffernutter" instead of "fluff".

So how was my bacofluffernutter? On a scale of 1-10, I give it a "not bad".

My friend Rob is involved with this really sweet cohousing project in Brooklyn. A bunch of people are trying to bring neighborliness, community, sharing, and sustainability to their lives. The project just got written up in the NY Times.

Making decisions and coming to agreements between forty households who will be living with each other sounds daunting. I love the group's consensus process.

When a facilitator calls for consensus, members hold up cards to signify their positions on an issue. Green means the holder agrees with the decision; blue means he or she is neutral; yellow, is unsure or unclear; orange, has serious reservations but will not block consensus; and red, will block consensus.

Thanks to my good friends Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart! Just in time for Thanksgiving.

Here's the recipe:

More mashed potato fun: The BLO used red, white, and blue colored mashed potatoes and ipecac to puke patriotic performance art. I can't believe there's no video of this online. Only one measly comment on WMMNA. Internet, you've let me down.

This is the best story I've heard in a long time.

Starring baby monkeys lost in frightening trees, a witch, crocodiles, a tiger, a "popotamus", a lion, and a "tremendously very bad mammoth". There are also magic powers and an orange ring.

After reading my quote in Wired.com's write-up on Musebin, my friend Anthony from The Hype Machine emailed me to make sure I don't hate MP3 blogs. So, for the record, I don't hate MP3 blogs.

The blogosphere has changed the way I discover and understand music for the better. I'm thankful that the internet is filled with so many people who are passionate about what they listen to, and who love to share.

In the 1990s I had trouble feeding my cravings for new and interesting music. Aside from recommendations from a few close friends, my only way to discover new music was to look for CDs with cool looking covers... and cross my fingers. I'm not joking. Thank god I don't have to do that any more.

No matter what your musical tastes, you're bound to find music writers online who'll resonate with you. Here are some of my favorite websites (MP3 blogs and otherwise)...

In March, I left a disposable camera at Death by Audio (a venue in Brooklyn) along with a note: "Take a picture. Call me when the camera is full." I was there playing a show with my friend Chad.

I forgot about the whole thing until a few months ago when I got a weird call from a stranger who told me about my camera. It was full. Apparently the camera had never left the venue. Under no circumstance did the caller want to hand deliver the camera to me. Fine. It would be hidden safely behind the bar. I could get it whenever.
